NATURE WAS THE FIRST ARTIST I MET
A drawing about the nature of drawing. When I was younger I was never the best at drawing, but that was never the point. At an age where you don't mind being terrible at something as long as you enjoy it. Inspired by a childhood caravan holiday to Holland. I started carrying a small notepad around where I drew all the insects and nature I found there. Nature and art just seemed to start to click, to the point it felt like the same thing. Looking back, the way bugs are tiny and intricate but made up of bold colours and shapes. Which is still very much the cornerstone of how I work now. Nature  was defiantly my first art teacher.

fEAR
Commission cover art for Riggz The Loard single Castle Of Ears.
I tried to capture the feeling of fear. The way your brain lights up when it detects a potential threat. Your ears prick up and sharpen with electricity zipping down your spine. As the danger grows closer and closer and your mind get louder and louder, your fear builds trying to detect what it is putting you on edge, Until the danger comes into fruition and you're face to face with your fear.
The idea was inspired by a dream/nightmare that the client had. I've always been interested in the way dreams work and how they link together seem completely random. But always have some connection below the surface of the subconscious. Like how dropping the "F" from "Fear" leaves you with "Ear". Two things that seem to have no relation can be combined in dreams to make strange and nightmarish imagery in the subconscious.

FOX FINDING BALANCE
I love that art is creating something from nothing. And to help something new grow, you have to find the right balance of the suns fire (the chaotic wildness and creativity of the mind). And the planets water (the still focus and fluidity to bend that fire how you want. Which I felt fits just right in the story of the artist One Red Fox on his upcoming tape "Stoned Fox Theory". Continuing the story of of an artist finding balance and control of his powers.

Zzz SLEEP FALLING (The Hypnagogic kick)
Inspired by the strange cat and mouse chase your mind plays trying to catch the illusive sleep that you sink in and out of right before bed. I realised the way my mind worked in this state of half asleep was a completely different way of processing information, and let that way of thinking lead the illustration. Whole situations, places or people can be reduced to one simple shape or colour that perfectly represents them. One thought can lead to another until you're in a place that you have idea how you got to. Then finally you fall into deep sleep and feel your whole body sink below the surface of consciousness like water.

TALKING BOOKS
So happy to have created artwork through the amazing Phakama UK for the Body & Soul charity helping heal the traumas of childhood for people who have been, or are having troubles with their physical or mental health. Was such a great experience working with this group of young children and their mothers. Seeing how differently kids act and think of things is always inspiring. So was really cool to see them use that childhood freedom to write their own stories with their mothers and have them teach each other. And as the most free and creative artists, the kids came up with some amazing ideas that they shared with the group. So was a pleasure being part of the TALKING BOOKS arts workshops by Phakama UK.

RISE UP
So happy to have created artwork through the amazing Phakama UK for the Body & Soul charity helping heal the traumas of childhood for people who have been, or are having troubles with their physical or mental health. Was amazing working with this group of young people that were in the phase of leaving childhood and entering adulthood. They were all full of ideas, questions and humor. So was a pleasure being part of the RISE UP arts workshops by Phakama UK and seeing them create their individual work and bringing it all together into one performance piece incorporating all their interests from dance to animation. The artwork was inspired by the sharing process of sitting in a circle on the floor, which just brought back memories of school and being that age myself. And the circle shape seemed the perfect symbol of how the workshops work with a group of individuals who haven't met having their own ideas and bringing them all together to create one big idea that they can all be proud of and see themselves in.

FRIENDLY NEIGHBOURHOOD ARTIST
This was inspired by the the Spiderman into the Spiderverse film. It was incredible for so many reasons. from the step in evolution of animation as an art from, the care put into a animated film and seeing a Spiderman that looked like me. This artwork was kind of a collaboration between me and the Spiderman/artist Mile Morales since it's inspired by the artwork he created in the film, designed in real life by okeefe_artist and circle_persnickety
When I was younger I always wanted to be Spiderman. I never quite made it to superhero status but as Spiderman always symbolised, anyone can be a hero just like anyone can be an artist.

WHERE THE EARTH AND SKY MEET
Artwork for Salad Sage's amazing new single Shine On, out now!
Inspired by the song itself and drawing from my own experience of love I tried to just translate that feeling into a visual, painting what felt right instead of over thinking anything. I freestyle painted until I realised the background kind of looked like a landscape of the night sky and just ran with that. It very much became a love story told by colours. Like the purple and red streaks of paint keeping each other in balance circling the two figures. and the sky being made up of the females colours (purple and yellow) and the land the males colours (green and red). Which is how I landed on the name for the piece "Where The Earth And Sky Meet". I wanted to symbolise the songs title "Shine On" which is what the symbol above the two figures is. I made it the inverted colour pallet of the rest of the image which is why it stands out so much. And I like that it looks like both a flower (that comes from the earth) and the sun (that comes from the sky). And of course naturally the sun needs to shine on that flower to help it grow which is a really nice symbol of the earth and sky meeting and as a metaphor of love.

THE BIG SLEEP
Inspired from a dream I had about roaming alone through the desert for what felt like years (although I can barely remember any details of all this time). Searching for food and water and slowly losing my mind body and soul. I remember wondering the constant morphing landscape of the desert day and night. Feeling like i was walking in circles constantly balancing on the line between life and death like a tightrope making me feel like a walking skeleton. I remember being painfully aware of the sound of my own heartbeat constantly beating like a timer running out, similar to the way when you notice a clock ticking in a room and can't help but listen to it. Seeing visions of my insides falling out of my body, mirages of water and visions of an eclipse that I somehow knew was a sign of my last moments which gave the dream this anxious feeling of constant exhausting urgency. Searching for a way out or an exit from this uncompromising harsh landscape, but also knowing the only way out was death, I started questioning if i had already died and this feeling of going in circles with the constant feeling of starving in my tummy that could never end was hell itself. Worrying if there was an afterlife and if i was a good enough person to get into the good place. I vaguely remember floating above people I once knew going about their lives with me no longer present. It was terrifying but also strangely reassuring that a river keeps running even if a pebble is thrown into it. There was a vivid moment when my eyes became fuzzy and closed for the last time knowing the landscape
of the desert would be the last thing i see, and trying to appreciate my last view as much as possible. But spent so much time worrying about not appreciating it that I forgot to really take it in. I've always been fascinated by dreams and wondered if it was just a random mess of feelings and images stitched together by your subconscious, or if they have a message or meaning behind them. I barely feel like i can take credit for this piece as all the ideas and visuals were just given to me in the dream. i love that even me (its creator) am still trying to figure out what this piece means or if it means anything and cant give anyone a solid description or meaning behind it seeing as its birthed from a dream. Which kind of puts me as the artist in more of a similar place as the viewer trying to understand it (which is especially ironic since its one of the few pieces where I myself am depicted in the image). Just like dreams and my favourite art it has as many interpretations as there are people looking at it. More then any other piece I've done, it demands to be interpreted differently by each viewer and each interpretation be no less true or false then the last. My favourite part is that by its nature of being born from a dream, it resists to have just one solid interpretation,

Less Is MORE LOVE.
Trying to describe love simply using clumsy words is in itself an insult of it.
I'm a big believer in Taoism "the way that can be named is not the right name". Meaning words and language are just substitutes and short cuts for expressing how we feel that are constantly being misinterpreted and changing and can never hope to truly grasp the emotion we actually experience. I feel like love is the perfect example of something that can never be explained, as if its too beautiful to be put into words and if it came with a description it would take away the magic of it and would probably inspire much fewer artists to try and capture it through through their craft.

FLUX FOX
Commission cover art for One Red Fox's new album.

One Red Fox's music is crazy creative and is constantly adapting, developing and in a state of flux. With so many styles combined and can jump from lighthearted to honest and sober. I approached the artwork in the same way of having everything in a state of flux and adaption from the fox's insides to night and day. And the combination of lighthearted and honest sounds in the music inspired me to let my inner child be the artist and be as crazy and creative as I like. And my inner adult be the editor who cut anything unnecessary, and tried to make sense of what I had created.

STREET SKUNK (the lonely stoner)
This piece was a freestyle drawing inspired by listening to hip hop while sketching with no real direction, until I saw the image in vivid detail and finished sketching not really knowing what the image meant yet but I knew there was something to it. Once I had finished and had time to sit back and work out what it meant my first surface interpretation is that it was a visual love letter to marijuana and the inspiration it can bring. On deeper inspection the next interpretation was an abstract portrait of a friend inspired from an actual real life experience, painting the scene how it felt and not how it actually looked. My further interpretation was that it was about the difference in stigma between white people smoking marijuana often being classed as hippys or at worst lazy stoner burn outs. In comparison to black people smoking being seen as dangerous, feared, violent with criminal undertones. which is why the figure is painted with this solemn lonely feel, long sad eyes wide with fear, hunched over and arms awkward and nervously folded into the body. To show sometimes smoking isn't about getting high and partying or causing any kind of trouble but just to get by and cope. Which brings me to my last interpretation of coping with the anxious uncomfortable feeling of being black in a white world. which is why the contrast of the figure and background is so high, highlighting the emotion of feeling as if you're living in someone else's world and being the minority.

WRITING ON THE WALL
concept art commission for script.
If Einstein knew his work would help create the atom bomb, would he have been able to resist the human nature of curiosity to open the Pandora's box of knowledge in his mind.

"I wonder how often poorer people with a strong moral belief system develop an idea to help people recognise their own potential, naive/vulnerable to the fact their idea will be hijacked/manipulated by people with money and power as soon as it gets big enough to make an impact on the world, and that idea will be used by those with power to control instead of help people. Those who don’t give in to money and power maybe become scrutinised/slandered by the press that those with power own to the point of self destruction. Maybe these are the current rules of the universe. But rules are made to be broken."

STARVING ARTIST
I've always felt a connection to the Studio Ghibli film "Kiki's delivery service" which this piece is based on, but wasn't sure why for a long time. The story is of a young witch that leaves home to move to a new city and follows her highs and lows of starting her own delivery service business. But the film can clearly be interpreted as a young artist trying to turn their passion into a career against all odds and all the failures and joys that come with that decision.. From money problems, feeling like an outsider from choosing such a different path to everyone around you to the crushing feeling of losing the joy of your passion once it becomes work. Recently I feel as if pursuit of happiness is pointless because happiness, sadness and every other emotion is
inevitable. I just want to feel and soak up every experience because anythings better then feeling nothing at all. No matter what we always have a story.

PARANOID ANXIETY (street level)
How if feels walking through London at night drunk on anxiety and paranoia. Despite The looming curious feeling of something terrible happening, there's something fascinating and beautiful about seeing the world in this way that I can't look away from and can't quite grasp. The most beautiful thoughts are always besides the darkest. This was Inspired by Kid Cudis "Day n' Night", Asap Rocky's "LSD", Frank Oceans "Nights", the "Kids See Ghosts" album, the "Wolf Among us" PS4 game, the "Watchmen" comic, "The Scream" painting by Munch, film nori, Van Gogh's "Starry Night". Was inspired to try this new style from seeing one of my favourite artists BAK perfect bold powerful paintings. I really enjoy being inspired by so many different art platforms. I think if a piece of art connects it, connects, doesn't matter if its a PlayStation game or a 100 year old famous painting. Personally i think hierarchy is best left out of art..

FAILURE PART 1 (BLUE JUDGEMENT)
I think people should be encouraged to share their failures as they do their accomplishments. When Someone identifies with a word e.g.“failure, winner, coward, brave”. It's easy to convince yourself that's who you are. But everyone has elements of everything within them. No one's a failure, winner, coward, brave all the time, but everyone is all those things some of the time. Judgement is poisons as it is pointless.
Picture
FAILURE PART 2 (YELLOW FREEDOM)
Before any label you're given or give yourself e.g: failure, artist, criminal, doctor, black. We are human, which means we are equal, share the same experience of being alive which I believe can't be measured or rated. only celebrated. Peoples opinions of each other, good or bad are just opinions at the end of the day. We are no better or worse then anyone else, but all completely different. You can't logically judge someone if you're not them. Because you can't live and experience their life leading to the decisions they've made.

MOTHER & CHILD

(Commission for the London Arts in Health Forum)  This piece was inspired by the poetry event I attended. A lot of which was around the theme of becoming a new mother and mother hood. All the poems had a real sincerity and positive inner glow about them that I could feel was so genuine. These poems didn't strike me as being about a particular message or fact, but more freely expressing this array of emotions felt in an abstract way. So I created the image in a similar way using this mix of swimming colours symbolising the flurry of emotions within this golden almost womb like bubble as if nothing outside this new relationship between mother and child exists. The brush strokes making up the mother flowing to and from the child, like the give and gain connection between mother and child.

PATIENT 264
(Commission for the London Arts in Health Forum) This was inspired by a combination of art events I attended. inspiration for this piece came mainly from the poetry event day. I thought it was important to show the more negative and painful side of things for a full scope of the situation and to show that patients need more then just treatment of their condition. A theme that came up a lot was the feeling of dehumanisation patients sometimes feel. To convey that I made the background up of these haunting faces which I thought of as not actual people, but the idea of people which is what I can imagine the relationship can feel like between patient and staff in these cases. The feeling of loosing your identity outside the walls of the hospital and feeling as if you're just a victim of your condition was also discussed a lot throughout the poetry event. I showed this through scratching away parts of the figures face almost merging him into the hospital themed background. A huge inspiration for this piece was the quote said on the day "A body is just a science kit that's been away from dance". Which inspired the footnote on the image imitating the ones sometimes seen on medical diagrams of the human body,  but with the twist of also showing the emotional side of the body part.

YELLOW IN THE BLUE
(Commission for the London Arts in Health Forum) This was inspired by a combination of art events I attended from a student art gallery to drama performance days. A common theme throughout the students gallery work was about colour and shapes and how they naturally emote human emotions. So I created this face using basic shapes and a range of colours. The piercing eye in the middle of the image that stands out with the juxtaposition of detail in it was inspired from the work ethic of the drama workshops that were run with children talked about on the theatre performance day. Someone saying that the children wanted to work in chaos with no structure and the adults wanted to have a clear plan of what was going to happen and ending up somewhere in the middle of the two approaches. So I took that in consideration creating the face as a lively chaos with the one eye being much more detailed. One piece in the students gallery in particular was a painting "Bathed In Blue" belonging to one of the students I spoke to which was all about the colour blue and how it often related to depression and tried to turn that on its head in her painting. This idea inspired the bottom shoulder of the figure being all blue like a wave with a small figure drowning in it as depression can sometimes feel. But as spoken about on the theatre performance event day. Often changing your perspective on things can be a more long lasting solution to depression then medication. So I used the same small drowning figure with inverted colours on the top of the image floating, signifying that they are identical but with different perspectives. Just like shapes they can change from looking at things from different viewpoints. I used the colour yellow to signify the positivity with the negative (the blue). There being more yellow towards the top of them image and less at the bottom where its engulfed by blue. Apart from the yellow paper boat (inspired by the drama performance which included the audience creating paper boats) that I felt was the perfect symbol relating to the water (the blue and depression) but also keeping you afloat. relating back to the belief in changing perspective, the boat can be folded into another more positive shape like a bird, representing freedom. Despite it looking different, it is still made up of the same paper as the boat it was previously, just the perspective and shape have changed.

I MISS YOU
(Commission for the London Arts in Health Forum) . A reoccurring theme from the London health and well being events I attended was how the lack of nature can drop peoples mental health. I think its because nature is a part of us and being distant from it can throw off our balance. I recreated the human body replacing parts with trees, plants, roots etc, to show how closely connected we are to the natural world. And how these shapes that make up the human body are found over and over in nature like a reminder that we are just one of mother natures many children. And like a rebelling child who's tried to be their own person and wondered far from home, It's only natural to miss it when surrounded by man made structures.

GREEN ME
Album art commission. Green Me by Salad Sage, coming soon. Creating the artwork for the album was a back and forth conversation with each song allowing me to really absorb the album and interpret it to the best of my ability.
For the head of the large figure I created really abstract brush strokes of paint, wanting the feeling of movement representing the constant motion of the human mind questioning its place in the green (in nature). Ironically having the ability to be conscious of and question our place in the natural world is what separates us from it most. Another theme explored in the album was the pursuit of peace within the mind. And if peace is still and tranquil, then the motion of the paint strokes further emphasis the chaos of the motion filled mind constantly metamorphosing,
view points skewing over time and opinions changing. The large figure represents the ego of man, thinking of nature being something around us that we can bend to our advantage. The smaller figure being the death of the ego and man reentering nature without the idea of a hierarchy.

SHE

WE THINK, THEREFORE, WE CAN
I created this as artwork for a clients script. The idea behind this is the danger of curiosity in humanity always overturning every stone. With emphasis on digging deeper into the human mind where things that we may be better off remaining ignorant to may lie. I thought the dramatic image of the exploding head is the perfect illustration of the mind collapsing after learning things about itself that is can't handle and that it cannot unlearn. I wanted a main focus to be the one eye of the head that was left intact as a symbol of seeing beyond into something the mind couldn't comprehend. The crashing pilot is also a metaphor for the crashing human mind and shows the cause being human tech trying to compete and even replace nature "our mechanical birds flew too close to the sun" I thought was a nice spin on the Greek mythology Icarus story. "We think therefore we can" (a quote from the script) Is like modernising a classic quote which is what technology does so often. And it raises the question of "just because you can, does it necessarily mean you should?". And the quote implies that as conscious human beings who have the power to alter the world around us, confidently believes we should.

IGNORANCE IS BLISS
This piece was fully inspired by a Simpsons episode with core themes I found really interesting. Choosing between the small comfortable family life or giving it all up to pursue self fulfilment and explore what more the world has to offer. The Simpsons are the perfect canvas to explore this idea on top of since they are one of the most recognisable families in the world. And unlike non fictional people they work well as a symbol of family, rather then a literal particular family that might distract from the meaning of the painting. The idea is about the pursuit of happiness and wondering whether it can be found in the surrounding of loved ones, or is that just a distraction from trying to find inner peace for yourself,  whether that's a passion you want to give all of yourself to, or doing things you've always wanted to that would be irresponsible to do with a family depending on you. Another idea is that maybe it's better not to be aware of life's big questions and overthink things, and instead be somewhat ignorant to these big questions that won't affect your day to day life if you live it with a loving family.

TEEN DRAMA
(Alien Child graphic novel concept art poster) I created this is piece as a metaphor of the relationship of the two characters from the graphic novel I'm making. The idea being one of the characters optimistic happiness revels to the other character how unhappy she herself is by contrast. A painful but necessary existential moment of self realisation.

THE BELLY OF THE BEAST
This piece was first inspired by Kendrick Lamar's album "DAMN."  Kendrick has a tendency to absorb people around him and tell their stories through his music non judgmentally, letting the listener decide their view on these characters. I tried to replicate this by having the items in each of the beasts hands a representation of someone from a damaged city lifestyle such as single mothers, drug dealers and the many who have lost loved ones. Despite being a monster, the city is also a community of people. The design of the beast itself is both a living representation of the city and a racist distorted stereotype depiction of the inhabitants of it. The idea being from an outside ignorant view this might be all that is seen. Having said that people do terrible things to each other in these broken cities. But no one is born bad, so better then just blaming each individual ask why and what drove them down this path, it's one thing to have a friend or parent that is a negative influence, but to be born into, and be raised by a city that is a bad influence is an even deeper wound. This is why i think their is no greater example of my personal philosophy; (unless you've lived every second of someones life you cannot  judge their actions, as you can't feel how they feel, and every bad decision has a open wound of the past behind it.). I don't see how anyone can be judged for being angry that they are being forgotten and failed by the system and treated like second rate citizens and criminals.

Paranoid Fantasy Land
Our paranoia tells us a distorted version of ourselves, that we aren't good enough and the people around us think little of us. Our fantasy tells us that we are the hero of our own story and that even if we believe everyone is equal, you are always destined to win in the end because you are you. I think both of these versions of ourselves are false. If there's a puzzle, each piece representing a person, I think most people would rather be the last piece that finishes the puzzle giving the finished imagine meaning, this would be the fantasy. But I also believe most people would rather be a broken damaged piece (representing the paranoia) then an ordinary one of many pieces. I think this is because no one wants to believe they're the norm, and would rather be interesting and broken then healthy and average. The damaged puzzle piece has a cause and effect of making the whole puzzle incapable of being complete. The reality isn't as exciting which I think makes the two extremes a more appealing path to follow down, but like a Venus fly trap can capture your mind and make your paranoia or fantasy your reality. whereas I think reality lies somewhere in between the two.

The Surreal Self
"I get bored of seeing my own face"  Is the quote from Kanye West that first inspired this piece. It got me thinking how surreal and strange it must really be to have all these videos and photos of yourself often at your worst and best being replayed over and over as a part of public record, almost taking a life of their own as people interpret them in different ways. I can only imagine the almost eerie feeling of seeing so many warped versions of yourself in a way creating a media self  that takes your qualities that the public see as most entertaining and exaggerate them to eventually become a caricature of the original self. But what's interesting about Kanye is that in some ways he seems to embrace this. Kanye often talks about after hes gone, his legacy and impact on the world he'll eventually leave behind. Kanye doesn't seem to be afraid of things that other celebrities are like speaking his mind at questionable times and fear of losing his money or fame. But perhaps he embraces his fear of not being able to achieve all he can while hes here as motivation to do as much as possible, and embraces his many "media surreal Self's" as leaving behind as many pieces of himself as possible to fight his fear of being forgotten. It's not often you see an artist who's both true to their craft and hugely embrace the lime light and fame. Love him or hate him, you must admit there's a reason why he stands out.

THE RADICAL FREEDOM OF FRANKENSTEIN'S GOD
Radical freedom is the idea of you truly being in power of everything you do with no such thing as having "no choice". This is multiplied with celebrities having the money and power to get whatever they like to the point of being bored of having absolute freedom. Celebrities are also often ridiculed for seeing themselves as being better then most like a God. But like Frankenstein's monster they will eventually become how they are treated by others. The design is based on "Bojack Horseman" which I thought was the perfect symbol of celebrity without personalising the figure to one specific existing person, also the horse headed man reminded me of the Greek Gods. Ironically the Horseman perfectly embodies the celebrity human condition on his brilliant t.v show that was a huge inspiration for this piece.

THE DARK THOUGHTS WE ALL HAVE TO PRETEND NOT TO HAVE
I don't believe the darkest thoughts we have are a honest reflection of ourselves, more like a fun house distorted mirror, unfiltered thoughts haven't been considered by the mind yet. Strange how its like a unanimous unspoken agreement to pretend we don't have these thoughts creep into mind, almost like the Emperors New Clothes we all ignore the obvious. I think if people would try and understand rather then judge more people would share and the thoughts wouldn't look as scary. Or we'd all find a way to judge each other in new and exciting ways...

THE HUMAN CONDITION
Suffering is a language spoken by all of humanity, and yet we put the earth and each other through it knowing the painful feeling first hand. And yet we are still able to smile and feel joy, I'm not certain whether this is a hauntingly sad showing of the self centred nature of being human, Or a simply beautiful testimony to the struggling perseverance of being human and the common goal of the pursuit of happiness that crosses all genders, ages and races.

FIRE
Life and death, strange how similar opposites can be. We often believe happiness is something we pursue in our lives whether it be a person, career or life goal that we will one day capture for things to finally fall into place, But I believe happiness, sadness and every other emotion is indelible to come and go as a constant throughout life. And if happiness is chased, like a moth to a flame before you know it life has passed by. (The fire representing both life and death simultaneously).
The more literal interpretation is that as humans we are aware that the flame will kill the moth and are given this unasked for power and put in the dilemma of either stopping the moth reaching the flame, saving its life but robbing it from its one life goal. Or letting it fly to the flame, achieve its goal knowing we're witnessing death with the ability to stop it.

THE BEAUTY OF VULNERABILITY
I heard there’s a Japanese belief that everyone has 3 faces. The first they show the world, the second only close family and friends see and the third only they themselves know.

PERSPECTIVE
Sometimes I can't tell whether a memory is real or a vivid dream, when a experience becomes a memory the line between reality and fantasy is just perspective.

SELF REALISATION
I first created this piece when I had a moment of self realisation and saw myself and art in a more negative light, creating it as therapy. I then used the piece as a advertisement for the Rich Mix's art festival where I was a part of putting on my first art gallery and had the image posted all over east London. At that point I saw the piece as advertisement I created and the original meaning faded away. Now a year later I realise the image's meaning has changed again as that moment of self realisation being the first time I felt like I could really be a "professional artist" on the day of my first art gallery launch.

REFLECTION
There's nothing quite like looking straight into the eyes of an animal and the mystery of never knowing what's in their head. I saw this same fox and photographed him everyday on the way home, everyday he became more
comfortable around me till we were only a couple meters from each other.

SYNESTHESIA
I used this cut and paste of random styles together technique because it perfectly describes the way the brain makes random connections in synesthesia. The first time I saw the agogo instrument being played it was this light shade of blue, so now I see that colour when I hear the instrument in that same tone. But I also remember this sweet that was the exact same shade of blue, so I also immediately association that sound with that sweets flavour.

MAYA'S MIND CONCEPT ART
Picture
MY FASCINATING DERANGED TRANQUIL CHAOTIC MIND
My piece "My Fascinating Deranged Tranquil Chaotic Mind" is a combination of illustration and creative writing. For a full year of my life I kept a written record of every phrase, thought and feeling I felt noteworthy. And over a self portrait of myself wrote and illustrated my feelings of that time in my life over the piece. I think of it like a time capsule to come back to and see how my thoughts and opinions and ultimately identity have changed. Being of a mixed ethnic background identity has always been a strange thing to grasp for me personally which shows in the two black and white sides of the artwork. For me art is  Therapeutic, making conceptual thoughts physical and uncompromising self expression. But the best and most frustrating thing about art is anything I say will be incomplete. So I suppose this is what it would look like of I painted a canvas with my psyche. A self portrait of my thoughts, insecurities, dreams and things I love and hate about myself and everything in between. I call it a self dissection portrait. It's honest, uncompromising and imperfect which Is what I believe makes for the most human and repeatable art.
